Brief Claim Formalities

In the event of loss or damage to the consignment which may involve a claim, intimation has to be given to the nearest branch of Insurance Company within 7 days from the date of receipt of material at the final destination and a copy of the same has to be forwarded to the respective Company.
On receipt of the intimation, the Insurance Company will nominate surveyors for assessing the damages to the consignment from their panel of surveyors. On completion of the survey, consignee should obtain the survey report from the surveyors and forward the same to the Group along with the relevant documents in order to process the claim with the Insurance Company.
Consignee should also obtain a damage certificate from the transporter for the quantity of material damaged and monetary claim should be lodged on the carrier for loss/damage of goods in transit in the format given separately.
In case, any claim emanates from theft in transit, a complaint has to be filed with the nearest police station where the theft had been noticed and a copy of FIR has to be obtained for filing the same with the Insurance Company along with shortage certificate collected from transporter.

Documents to be submitted for processing a claim.

Original survey report.
Surveyors' Bill in original with stamped receipt.
A copy of our commercial Invoice.
A copy of Lorry Receipt (L/R)
Damage certificate from the carrier/transporter.
Original copy of claim lodged on carrier/transporter with Registered A/D Acknowledgment as evidence of having lodged the claim on carriers.
A copy of FIR and shortage certificate in case of loss on account of theft.
